3-12 May 2011
INFN Sezione di Catania and Dipartimento di Fisica e Astronomia, Catania (Italy)
Europe/Rome timezone
Following the previous CompStar meetings in Caen (2010), Coimbra (2009) and Ladek-Zdroj (2008), the 2011 event will be dedicated to the observational possibilities and their theoretical interpretation regarding emission of electromagnetic and gravitational waves from compact stars. CompStar2011 is divided into two parts :
  • the School (3-7 May) is intended to train students on the different observational methods on electromagnetic radiation in different bands, and on gravitational waves, and how the observations can be used to get insights into the structure of compact stars.
  • the Workshop (9-12 May) is organized to give an overview of the current research topics related to the phenomena occurring in compact stars, both within the COMPSTAR project as well as throughout the world. Students are especially encouraged to present the results of their research at the Workshop.

  • Dates: from 03 May 2011 08:30 to 12 May 2011 23:20
