Asia 4 2012 - Joint CHAIN/EPIKH School for Application Porting to Science Gateways

from to (Asia/Shanghai)
at Ying Jie Exchange Center Building , Peking University, Beijing(China) ( 222 )
Description CHAIN (Co-ordination and Harmonisation of Advanced e-INfrastructures: http://www.chain-project.eu/), and EPIKH (Exchange Programme to advance e-Infrastructure Know-How: http://www.epikh.eu/) announce the Grid School for Application Porting to Science Gateway to be held in Beijing, China.

The Grid School aims at increasing the number of scientific applications running on e-Infrastructure worldwide and integrated in Science Gateways to ease their access and use by non-expert users. The School also aims at stimulating research groups to use the applications already integrated in existing Science Gateways.

Important deadlines:
  • Application submission: April, 6, 2011

  • The school is mostly intended, but not restricted, for CHAIN and EPIKH members.

To fulfill the goal of this Grid School, the program, based both on lectures and hands-on practices, will cover in-depth the main topics of Science Gateways' development.

Good previous knowledge of the Java programming language is mandatory.

To maximize the didactic impact and effectiveness, the number of applications to be ported will be limited to 8-10.

All application candidatures must be submitted to the Selection Board of the School by a team of at most two persons before the 6th of April 2012. Each application team should fill the questionnaire available on the web at the URL http://applications.epikh.eu/survey describing the application they want to propose. The Selection Board will rank both applications and persons. At most one application per team will be selected.
